I am really in love with the unit icons and the format that you're using for these new unit lists. I think this mod uses the best textures and I really do like this mod. I'd love to help once I learn how to create units, which I am working on right now.

Re: United States Unit List - 01/21/08
Thanks!
About the icons... I took them from the demo versions of Ageod games, which are turn-based strategy games. I hope they don't mind. However, many of the icons I've edited or recolored to fit the Revolutions mod.
If you need help texturing or something, feel free to ask.

I liked those icons, they look a bit strange at first, byt I really liked them.
Will you include more civil war "special units"?

Re: United States Unit List - 01/21/08
Thanks.
I chose these icons because they were more flexible to work with and have greater consistency. It looks more professional I think.
I will be adding some more Civil War units, or at least unit "flavors". In the Ageod games (where I borrowed the icons), when you build an infantry unit, there's a chance that'll turn out to be a Zouave or something. It has the same exact stats, but it looks different. In the Revolutions mod, the shipment units will usually look different that the ones you build, though they might have the same exact states. Sometimes the difference is only minor, like a different hat or different colored shirt. Anyway, expect to see the Garibaldi Guards, Colored Infantry, and Zouaves for the Union.

Very interesting, just a note, the Garibaldi Guards were,If Im not wrong, cosiidered shock troops,so their stats might reflect this.

The Garibaldi Guards will certainly be the most unique shipment units. They get their own standard bearer, officer, and drummer. They'll also fight a lot better than most American units, and probably be able to use the square formation to reflect their European background. However, that means no skirmish formation.

Re: United States Unit List - 01/21/08
Umm one question, why would you need more than one icon if a unit only has the limit of 1 icon unless your going to change it..A different icon every age perhaps?
and one question what does it meen by saying it cant use square formation?

Re: United States Unit List - 01/21/08
The icons change because the units change with each age. It's only historical accuracy.
The square formation is equivalent of an infantry square. Your soldiers will gather into a square with more important or vulnerable units in the center. It increases their attack and defense against cavalry, but also limits their firing range and speed. Units in a square will be particularly vulnerable to artillery fire.
The United States rarely used the square formation. Militia probably lacked the discipline and training to effectively use it, and the Regular Army was more accustomed to fighting guerilla wars with Natives.
Because the Americans also lack a skirmisher unit, all of its infantry can fight in skirmish formation. For the other nations, the skirmish formation is limited to skirmisher. However, the American skirmish formation will be much less effective.

Re: United States Unit List - 01/21/08
Do you think that it would ruin the US uniquess that much if you include a rifleman unit(There were some companies,at least untill the war of 1812)?
Also, look at the workshop,I posted some pictures wich may help you.

The Age1 units will become Age2 units.
Right, they won't be able to fight in a square formation.

So Provost, what do you tihnk of add a rifleman shipment unit ?You could also have a way to upgrade infantry to them(To represent the rifle companies that fought in the war of 1812 and earlier;Dont know latter)

You could have the washington lifeguards as an early elite shipment unit.

Washington's Life Guards were disbanded in 1783 at the end of the American Revolution.
